André Bidal, the Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon School Board trustee for District 5 in Greater Sudbury has passed away.
Education director Paul Henry says in recognition of Bidal’s contributions to French-language Catholic education, the flags at the head office and its schools will be at half-mast this week.
Henry says Bidal was involved with Franco-Ontarian education for almost 45 years serving as a trustee since 2000.
He was also elected as vice-president and president for several terms.
Henry had just announced yesterday that Bidal had been awarded the Catholic Education Award of Excellence late last week, one of the highest honours in the province for excellence in education.
Details of funeral arrangements are not known at this time.
