East Algoma OPP lays aggravated assault charge

East Algoma OPP laid aggravated assault charges following a serious knifing incident.

Constable Bev Gauthier says last Friday, just before six pm, police responded to an assault in progress at a residence on Lorne Street in Thessalon.

She says two victims were stabbed, one sustaining serious injuries to the neck, the second with cuts to an arm and hands.

Gauthier says a 31-year-old man from Sault Ste Marie has been charged with aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, resisting an officer, possession of a dangerous weapon, uttering threats and breach.

She says he was denied bail and has been remanded into custody awaiting trial.

 

Man arrested following indecent exposure

An Elliot Lake man is facing charges including indecent exposure following an incident at an apartment building in the city.

Constable Phil Young says yesterday, the police were called to an apartment on Mississauga Avenue in Elliot Lake.

He says the complainant reported a man was in the laundry room of the complex exposing himself.

Young says police recognized the man and arrested him.

The 27-year-old from Elliot Lake was charged with an indecent act, break and enter, and theft.

He is to appear in Elliot Lake court on May 3rd.
