Work moving ahead on major North Shore Internet project

Nairn & Hyman Township is looking forward to getting a better connection to the Internet.

Council was updated by the Huron Shore and Manitoulin Island Community Owned Fibre Infrastructure Corporation that with the funding guaranteed, the installation of fibreoptics throughout the North Shore corridor and Manitoulin Island, is a go this spring.

The company is receiving $170 million dollars through Ontario’s Improving Connectivity for Ontario program as well as the Government of Canada’s Universal Broadband fund.

Anyone needing better access or infrastructure is encouraged to register on the corporation site as the mapping begins for the project.

Council is sending a letter of support and thanks for the work carried out by the corporation in enhancing and improving internet services.
