Elliot Lake council not going ahead with appraisals of city assets

Elliot Lake council has decided not to go ahead with appraisals for the local golf course or the ski hill.

City staff had recommended that both the Stone Ridge Golf Club and Mount Dufour Ski Hill be appraised at a cost of around $20,000 to determine value and possibly sell the city-owned assets.

But, following a public outcry that assets should be maintained by the city after council had discussed an unsolicited offer by a Hamilton-based company to buy the golf course, council rejected any consideration to sell the property.

Council rejected a second motion to have the ski hill appraised, leaving both assets in municipal hands.
