The Elliot Lake Red Wings came home with a 3-2 Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League win over the Greater Sudbury Cubs kicking of weekend play on Thursday.
The Espanola Express had a hard weekend of play once again, losing three games, 7 to 2 on Friday against the Timmins Rock, 4 to 3 on Saturday against the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and 4 to 3 in a nail-biter on Sunday against the Elliot Lake Redwings.
The Blind River Beavers netted a 2-0 shutout victory over the Hearst Lumberjacks on Saturday but lost to the Timmins Rock in a narrow 3-2 decision on Sunday.
