Gas prices continue going up across Ontario, but the North remains in its own league.
Dan McTeague, gas price analyst and President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, says the Wild North, as he calls it, moves on a very different schedule with retailers driving prices up and down without any rhyme or reason.
He says retailers calling the shots on prices will keep happening at least until Costco opens their pumps in the North.
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on Premier Ford to honour his 2018 election promise to lower gas prices in Ontario.
Ford pledged to drop the price by ten cents a litre.
So far, the government has only reduced the cost by 4.3 cents.
The federation says federal and provincial gas taxes are now about 55 cents a litre, so there’s plenty of room for the government to act.
