Espanola council has given its approval to have ABC Recreation build the new splash pad at Sherwood Park in early summer.
Council has approved the project at a total cost of $220,000.
Public Works/Leisure Services Manager Joel Yusko says that amount does not include widening the roadway to accommodate parking concerns, which is a separate budgeted item.
He says another $148,000 has been budgeted to go towards widening the roadway to accommodate parking with expected higher number of users with the installation of the splash pad.

With the approval, construction of the splash pad itself is expected to start in early June, as well as the road work.
A grand opening is tentatively planned for early July.
