Elliot Lake council is looking at renaming two local areas in honour of two local individuals.
Staff is recommending council approve the Ceremonial Naming of a local roadway and the renaming of the Spine Road Cross Country Ski Trail.
The ceremonial naming of Esten Drive would honour the late Rene Fabris whose family continues to operate the family business since its founding in 1956 with signage installed above the regular street sign.
The renaming of the trail would acknowledge the contributions of Rejean Cyr who helped develop many of the trails around the city.
On Monday evening, a policy technicality raised by Councillor Chris Patrie to review past minutes related to a discussion into the requests led to a deferral since council wants to ensure it is following the policy properly.
Council will discuss the recommendations at the March 14th council meeting.
