Elliot Lake council has deferred the decision to cancel the drag races to allow input from local fundraising groups and organizers.
City CAO Daniel Gagnon expressed concerns about the timeline of the event set for July 15th to 17th.
Gagnon says due to the pandemic, the annual Drag Races at the Elliot Lake Airport were cancelled over the last two years.
He says time is of the essence and the council must decide soon since staff would have to be hired, sponsors found, and logistics carried out.
Council agreed to defer the decision until the next council meeting on March 14th.
