National curling returns to North Bay

North Bay will once again be hosting national curling

As part of the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling, North Bay will host the Boost National October 4th to 9th at North Bay’s Memorial Gardens.

The event will feature 15 men and 15 women teams from around the globe competing for a $250,000 prize.

 

NOJHL weekend wrapup

The Blind River Beavers took two wins this weekend, 4-3 over the Powassan Voodoos on Friday and the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 6-3 Saturday.

The Elliot Lake Red Wings went on to defeat the French River Rapids 5-4 on Friday.

The Espanola Express lost back-to-back against the Greater Sudbury Cubs 7-1 on Friday and the Hearst Lumberjacks 5-2 on Saturday.

 

École Saint-Joseph students live their Winter Olympics at school

At École Saint-Joseph School in Blind River, the Winter Olympics provided an opportunity for students to display their team spirit winning medals.

Each activity was inspired by an Olympic sport including biathlon, hockey, luge and curling.

The winning group was rewarded with a pizza dinner worthy of Olympic champions.
