M’Chigeeng First Nation has donated to the Manitoulin Health Centre capital campaign, Let’s Emerge Together.
Following a tour of the construction, Incoming President, CEO Paula Fields accepted a cheque for $5,000 from Chief Linda Debassige.
Ogimaa Debassige says it is important that M’Chigeeng First Nation support the expansion initiative which will offer increased access to care for members of her community.
Fields says the expansion of the emergency department in Mindemoya will provide an additional 4,200 square feet of space for a new trauma room, space for assessment for those in mental health crisis as well as a room for families to gather.
Work is progressing on the project and is expected to be finished this summer with a grand reopening.
