The Espanola Royal Canadian Legion Branch #39 held its first general meeting to welcome new members and make plans for 2022.
President Gary McPherson and Legion members welcomed new members who were sworn in at last night’s meeting.
He says the Legion has fared well through the pandemic and is in a good financial position, thanks to community and government funding support.
The Poppy Fund alone raised over $19,000 last fall and the members will be deciding how to disperse the funds to assist with various local projects that meet requirements.
McPherson adds the election for the executive had to be delayed due to the pandemic and a motion was passed to maintain the executive in place for the reopening with elections slated for the Spring of next year.
