SPORTS – Junior curling up and running in Espanola

The Espanola Curling Club Junior Program is up and running.

Every Wednesday at 3:00 pm, there are over 20 elementary and secondary students practicing their curling skills.

The Espanola Lions Club recently presented a $1,000 cheque to the program for equipment and ice time.

Overseen by Allen Emiry the program is alive and well and parents are encouraged to sign their child up by contacting the club.

Special kudos to Jack Tait who was instrumental in starting a Junior program many years ago. I remember, over 30 years ago, walking grade 5’s from A.B.Ellis over to the club in order to learn the basics from Jack.

Allan has a dedicated group of volunteers to help out, J.P Lamothe and the two Debs so many great things happen in our town thanks to volunteers. Of course, the hope is that these young curlers will enjoy the game and maybe one day …The Brier!! … The Scotties!! and perhaps The Games!
