Ontario PC announce candidate for Algoma-Manitoulin riding

Cheryl Fort of Hornepayne has been nominated as the Ontario PC Party candidate for Algoma-Manitoulin ahead of the next provincial election.

Fort was first elected in 2016 as town Councillor and was elected as Mayor of the Township of Hornepayne in 2018, becoming the second female Indigenous Mayor to be elected in Ontario.

She is also a Locomotive engineer for the Canadian National Railway and serves as a Northern Zone Director for the Ontario Good Roads Association.

Fort says having served as mayor and being active within the community, she understands what issues matter most and looks forward to addressing them at Queen’s Park.

Fort is running against incumbent New Democrat Michael Mantha, and Liberal candidate Timothy Vine in the provincial election set for Thursday, June 2nd.
