OPP marks retirement of one of its long-time dispatchers

Taking the call and making sure the right services are dispatched can be a stressful but rewarding career.

Just ask East Algoma OPP dispatcher April Robins who has just retired after 37 years of working with police and court services.

Robins started out with OPP dispatching at the Blind River Communication Centre in 1985 until 1988.

She then got hired by the Elliot Lake Police Department as dispatcher from 1988 -2003, until the department was amalgamated with OPP.

That year, she assumed the role of court reporter until her retirement last week.

Robins received congratulatory messages from many policing friends, related services, the city and local elected officials.
