Algoma and Manitoulin-Sudbury DSABs receive housing funding

Two local area social administration boards are receiving funding to go towards new housing.

The Algoma District Social Administration Board is receiving just over $1-million dollars and its counterpart, the Manitoulin-Sudbury board, $1.2 million in funding.

The funding was announced during the 2022 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference this week.

Ontario is providing over $28 million to support 322 projects through the Municipal Modernization Program where municipalities can use the money to review local services, find efficiencies, including accelerating the creation of new housing and working with neighbouring municipalities to share services.

The allocation are a combination of the Canada-Ontario Housing Initiative and Social Services Relief Fund.
