Hospitalizations rising through the north-east

Hospitalizations in the north-east passed 100 for the first time yesterday.

There are now 112 cases and health units in Sudbury, Timmins and North Bay also each reported one new death.

The biggest spike is at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, where 57 people are now in hospital with COVID with seven people in intensive care.

There are 11 people in hospital in Algoma

Public Health Sudbury & District has also reported an outbreak at the Sudbury jail in Sudbury and Algoma Public Health says there is an outbreak at the March of Dimes in Sault Ste, Marie.

The Ministry of Health is recommending people 18 years of age and older with conditions that cause weakened immune systems to receive a fourth/booster dose including those receiving dialysis, cancer treatment, as well as transplant recipients and people taking HIV drugs.
