Age Delivery Program comes under fire in Elliot Lake

An Elliot Lake business says a grocery delivery service provided by the City of Elliot Lake is hurting his business.

Andrew Young, owner of the FireSide Classic Grill and FireSide Food Shop says the Age Delivery Program is unfair because the program of grocery shopping for citizens of Elliot Lake, and delivery affects FireSide Food Shop and other delivery companies in the city.

However, CAO Daniel Gagnon says the program is to assist the most vulnerable in the community who have no way to get the groceries they need.

He says they are not trying to compete or hurt any local business.

Gagnon says the matter will be dealt with at tonight’s council meeting, which will be live-streamed at 7 pm at elliiotlake.ca
