OPP charge person after assault at Elliot Lake residence

East Algoma OPP has laid charges involving an altercation in Elliot Lake.

Constable Phil Young says on Monday just before five pm, police officers were called out to a disturbance on Albert Street in Elliot Lake.

He says the complainant had reported being threatened with a knife by a known acquaintance. Furthermore, the complainant stated the same person allegedly punched them in the face three days prior.

He says a 50-year-old man from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with assault and assault with a weapon.

Young adds the man is to appear in Elliot Lake court on February 1st.
