Students show their spirit of giving – Blind River and Espanola

Candy canes have been handed out and the food bank shelves filled thanks to the efforts of Blind River students over the holidays.

Students at École secondaire catholique Jeunesse-Nord in Blind River collected no less than 500 food items for the community food bank and distributed candy-canes with a special Christmas message (canne-o-grammes) to neighbouring homes.

Meanwhile, a 15-year-old Espanola High School student, Punya Pandey, was successful in raising nearly $1,500 to buy gifts for seniors at Queensway Place Assisted Living and the local nursing home.

And thanks to a donation from FreshCo, he was also able to host a holiday party for the residents to hand out the presents to all the residents.
