Several dozen businesses in the districts of Algoma, Manitoulin and Sudbury will benefit from funding supports through the Northern Ontario Recovery Program.
The Ontario government provided more than $26 million to a total of 1,384 businesses in 166 communities, with 75 communities in the Algoma and Manitoulin districts sharing just over $1.56-million dollars and 277 Sudbury district businesses sharing in nearly $4.9-million dollars.
On September 28th, 2020, the Ontario government announced the creation of the program to help businesses across the North adjust to the impacts of COVID-19 and protect employees and customers from a variety of sectors, including tourism, foodservice and retail.
