COVID-19 cases tops 3,000

Ontario is reporting over 3,000 new COVID-19 cases for the first time since early May.

The province added 3,124 cases on Friday along with five more deaths.

The seven-day rolling average is now at 1,914 with test positivity hitting 8.2 per cent.

Across the province, 157 people are in intensive care with the virus.

The government says there are 600 ICU beds available across the province with another 500 on standby for a surge of infections.
