The communities of Baldwin, Espanola, Nairn and Hyman, and Sables-Spanish Rivers have joined together to develop a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.
Investigative Solutions Network Incorporated was hired to develop the plan and it was presented to the Espanola council Tuesday night.
The report states all four municipalities share many of the same service providers and organizations, so community engagement sessions were conducted throughout the development phase and measurable strategies are now part of it.
It also includes an analysis of community feedback highlighted four priority areas including mental health and addictions, affordable housing, access to services, and seniors.
The next step is to complete service mapping, the development of partnerships to deliver programs to address local service gaps, and ongoing analysis as it is phased in.
Council gave its approval to the plan, which must be approved by the other three municipalities before the next phase can begin.
