Town of Blind River selling former museum site

Blind River council is selling the former Timber Village Museum property.

Council moved the museum to its new location at the marina after structural deficiencies were discovered and the building did not meet accessibility requirements.

On Monday evening, council unanimously voted to sell the property, which is zoned commercial and should sell quickly since it is in a high traffic area just off Causley Street and Highway 17.

CAO-Clerk Katie Scott says a local appraiser has been hired to assess the value of the property which will be shared with council at its next meeting.

Council will also have to decide on whether to demolish the building before it is listed or else leave that responsibility to the new landowner.
