Blind River man facing several drug charges

Sudbury OPP has laid several drug charges against a Blind River man.

OPP Constable Robert Lewis says police conducted a traffic stop on Paris Street in Greater Sudbury on November 30th and found the driver in possession of a prohibited weapon and drugs suspected to be cocaine and fentanyl.

Lewis says the street value of the drugs is estimated at $31,000.

He adds the 24-year-old from Blind River is facing several possession charges for the purpose of trafficking and firearm charges.

Lewis adds he was denied bail and is to appear in Sudbury Court December 10th to answer to the charges.

The charges are …

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs Substance Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 92(2) of the CC
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC (two counts)
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm, contrary to section 94 of the CC
  • Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, contrary to section 95(a) of the CC
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, contrary to section 92(1) of the CC
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the CC
