Algoma Public Health taking more action on COVID-19

Algoma Public Health is taking additional action to curb the spread of COVID-19, prevent severe illness and death in communities, and protect health system capacity.

The number of attendees at social gatherings and organized public events are being restricted to a maximum number of 10 people indoors, and 25 people outdoors.

Sault Ste. Marie businesses and organizations are being required to put in strengthened masking and physical distancing requirements and prohibit certain high-risk close contact activities.

APH is also suspending close contact extracurricular activities in schools for 28 days.

As of last night, the number of active cases in the district is 306 with 15 people admitted to the hospital.

The agency has also reported another COVID19 death, the 15th in the district since the pandemic began
