Espanola student gives back

An Espanola High School student is giving back to the community.

Punya Pandey, a grade 10 student says his grandfather passed away when he was nine.

He says his grandfather lived in India while he was in Canada, and he was unable to spend time with him during his last days.

Pandey says when COVID began it made him realize how isolated seniors are and he wanted to do something to bring them happiness.

He is raising money through a Go Fund Me to buy and distribute gifts to senior home residents at the Queensway Place Assisted Living and the Nursing Home at Espanola Regional Hospital.

So far, he has raised $1,200 of his $4,000 goal.

Pandey says left over money from this event will be donated to our local veterans through the Espanola Royal Canadian Legion.

If you would like to support his initiative you can do so by visiting his GoFundme page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/creating-memories-espanola? Or drop by or by dropping by the Espanola Hospital Foundation office.
