Sudbury jail temporarily closed due to COVID-19

The Sudbury jail is to be temporarily closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak.
Ministry of the Solicitor General spokesperson Andrew Morrison says it is working closely with the Public Health Sudbury and Districts.
He adds in consultation with the Public Health Sudbury and Districts, and to ensure the safety and well-being of both correctional services staff and those in provincial custody, the ministry has decided to temporarily close the Sudbury Jail for a minimum of two weeks.
Morrison says the 145 inmates are already being transferred to other facilities that have the capacity and ability to isolate those who are COVID positive and ensure they receive appropriate medical care.
