Orange ribbons removed from Spanish River bridge

There have been some inquiries as to why orange plastic ribbons have been removed from the Spanish River Bridge in Espanola.
Nairn #1 Girl Guide Troop leader Leah Campbell says the girls tied the ribbons to show support for the day of truth and reconciliation and to also recognize the lost children from residential schools.
She adds, made from light plastic, there were some concerns raised that the ribbons would eventually break down and end up in the river below.
As part of their conservation efforts, Campbell says the troop and supporters removed the ribbons late last week to address those concerns.
She adds the troop appreciates the positive messages its members received for their efforts in marking the day.
