Beware of fraudulent calls under Reopening Ontario Act

Algoma Public Health has been made aware of fraudulent calls being made to businesses by an individual claiming to be employed by the health agency.

Supervisor of COVID-19 Response, Nicole Lindahl, says this individual is providing false information regarding the Reopening Ontario Act and threatening to close businesses.
She emphasizes if your business is contacted by someone who you do not recognize that is claiming to be from the agency, ask for their name and position, along with their extension to for verification.

She adds agency staff has identification they can also show the public.
Lindahl says if any business has a doubt about an inspector, they are asked to call the health unit.
