New fire truck sought for Blind River

Blind River council has given the go-ahead to the town’s fire chief to begin the tendering process for a new fire truck.
Fire Chief Ken Raymond told the council his office will work closely with a local consulting firm with expertise in tendering for fire equipment including a new ladder truck.
He estimates the new truck could cost as much as $800,000, so partnering with The Canoe Group will help in finding the best equipment and the best pricing possible.
Raymond says the previous ladder truck had to be taken out of service after it broke down on a mutual fire aid call to Elliot Lake on June 23rd.
He adds the engine had seized and it was then determined the 32-year-old vehicle could not be repaired.
