Ryleigh’s Ride for Johnny raises thousands

A Sudbury woman who lost her husband this Spring says the outpouring of support for a motorcycle ride to raise funds for Toronto’s Sick Kids is tremendous.

Kerri Chevrier says she lost her husband, Johnny Valcourt, in May of this year following a motorcycle collision.

She says the two have two daughters, three-year-old Ryleigh and two-year-old Olivia.

Ryleigh was a premature baby and received care at Sick Kids when she was born.

She says her late husband began the fund-raising ride from Sudbury to Manitoulin Island two years ago to raise funds for Sick Kids as a way of saying thank you to the institution.

Chevrier adds last weekend’s ride had 127 bikes and 184 riders take part in Ryleigh’s Ride for Johnny raising over $13,000 for the hospital.

She says the response is overwhelming and is looking forward to continuing the ride again next year.
