Manitoulin Secondary School altercation investigation continues

Manitoulin OPP is continuing their investigation into an altercation, which occurred at Manitoulin Secondary School in Billings Township on Manitoulin Island Tuesday afternoon.

OPP Media Relations Officer Constable Robert Lewis says just before 3 pm, OPP and UCCM officers were called to the school where several students received non-life-threatening injuries.

Lewis says a 16-year-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation has is facing charges including assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He adds two other youth, a 15-year-old, and a 17-year-old, both from Sheguiandah First Nation, have also been charged with assault causing bodily harm

The two will appear in Gore Bay court in October.

Lewis says there are no public safety concerns, and the investigation is ongoing.
