Pickle Ball improvements not a done deal

Escalating costs have led to Espanola council putting on the brakes on refurbishments for the pickleball courts.

Council discussed what they see as a substantial increase in the estimate of the cost for refurbishing the pickleball/tennis courts on land leased from the Espanola Golf and Country Club.

The original estimate may be around $100,000 more than originally anticipated.

With that, the council has decided to look at some other alternatives since they do not own the land.

Council has asked staff to research cost estimates for refurbishing the courts at the golf club as well as also taking a look at the cost of developing a new site on existing municipal property.

The report is expected later this fall.
