The Espanola Express and the Elliot Lake Red Wings met this weekend in two exhibition games splitting the wins.
The Red Wings took the win on Friday, 11 to 2 in Espanola but the Express came back Saturday in Elliot Lake, 6 to 4.
The two are set to meet in Elliot Lake this Friday night for the regular-season opener.
In other NOJHL news, it is a new home, new name and new look for Sudbury’s newest hockey team, the Greater Sudbury Cubs.
The team replaced the Rayside-Balfour Canadians and also began exhibition play this weekend beating the French River Rapids 2-1 on home ice.
