The Pinecone Academy had a bit of a setback in set up due to the storm that went through the area in late August but held a successful grand opening.
The school is a nature-based homeschool pod in Massey for Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 1 and held an opening and registration on Friday.
Organizers say about 50 people attended and took in the different work and play stations and reviewed the school’s learning programs.
They expect the yurt, which will be used as the school’s main classroom will be installed within the next few weeks.
The school has been successful in raising over $7,000 towards the yurt and school supplies.
