Algoma Public Health reporting region’s 7th COVID-19 related death

Algoma Public Health is reporting the region’s 7th death related to COVID-19.
Medical officer of health, Dr. Jennifer Loo, says the agency offers its condolences to the family and caregivers.
She adds the tragic loss highlights the seriousness of this virus.
The health unit commends all those who have worked to prevent COVID-19 spread in communities and asks every Algoma resident to continue doing their part to protect community members, including getting fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Out of respect for the family, no further information is being shared.
Algoma Public Health is reporting ten active cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday evening.
One person is hospitalized, and one person has died.
Public Health Sudbury & Districts is reporting 28 active cases of the virus.
Health Sciences North says it has two people admitted who are being tested for COVID-19.
There are no individuals in the ICU.
