Deadlier opioids on Sudbury and area streets

Public Health Sudbury & Districts has put out a warning that there are deadlier opioids on the streets in Sudbury and surrounding area.

The agency says the Community Drug Strategy has received reports of a higher number of suspected opioid overdoses late last week and a more potent drug supply is circulating on the streets.

The health unit states they cannot confirm the substance that has caused the increase in overdoses, but the situation services as a reminder that some may have been cut with dangerous substances such as fentanyl or carfentanil.

It is recommended that users or those who know someone is using drugs to get a naloxone kit to help someone if they are overdosing, which are available through the health unit or at local pharmacies for free.
