Infrastructure investments to improve trail system in Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing

MP Carol Hughes says communities in Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing will be receiving $301,903 in funding from the feds for 11 local trail enhancement projects.

Hughes says all the projects will enhance what is known as the Trans Canada Trail, the world’s longest network of multi-use recreational trails.

She says the national system is maintained by local groups and partners who work with the registered charity.

Hughes adds construction began in 1992 as part of Canada’s 125th birthday celebrations and it was completed 25 years later, in 2017, when Canada turned 150.
