Powwow of a different kind

One of the largest Indigenous cultural events in Ontario is going virtual.

For the last two years, Wiikwemkoong has been unable to hold its annual powwow cultural festival on the August first long weekend due to the pandemic.

This year is the same, but with a twist, it is going digital instead.

Wiikwemkoong Tourism is hosting the Wiikwemkoong TikTok Cultural Dance Competition 2021 instead.

It is now underway and dancers from the First Nation are invited to share their TikTok videos/links to the event page for the chance to win some great prizes with winners announced on Monday.
