Inquest announced into 2017 workplace death of Wiikwemkoong man

An inquest will be held into the 2017 workplace death of a Manitoulin Island man.
North Region’s regional supervising coroner Dr. Emily Groot says an inquest will be held into the death of Carl Peltier of Wiikwemkoong.
According to the release the 53-year-old died in hospital August 21st, 2017, due to injuries sustained while working at a construction site in Chelmsford, and an inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
Reports state Peltier was injured after trusses on the building he was working on collapsed.
Dr. Groot says the inquest is expected to last two days and will hear from approximately seven witnesses.
