United Manitoulin Islands Transit has started up its bus service once again on Manitoulin Island.

Company executive director Joahnna Berti says the company officially started up their bus service yesterday.

She adds they will maintain the regular schedule from Monday to Thursday.

And, she says on Fridays the bus will connect to South Baymouth, Tehkummah, Sandfield and Mindemoya, before returning to the depot in Little Current at a $6 per person riders’ fee.

Berti adds the company is looking to expand its services using environment-friendly electronic transport, which could take place as early as this the Spring of next year.

The company is a non- profit multi-stakeholder co-operative dedicated to bringing transit to Manitoulin Island through public transportation.
