Espanola council rejects hanging flowers donation for a second time

There will be no hanging baskets in Espanola following a second discussion at council.
Espanola council held another discussion on accepting a donation for hanging baskets and maintenance in town with a motion brought forward by Councillor Sandra Hayden who was not in attendance at the original meeting when council initially rejected the donation.
Hayden says there has been an outcry from the public with council’s decision.
However, Councillor Ken Duplessis says he has concerns about safety also pointing out Public Works is short-staffed and has just lost yet another employee.
A discussion was also held on having pots installed in key areas, rather than hanging baskets but that suggestion was also rejected.
The motion to rescind the original motion was defeated and the donation rejected once again.
