Considering resolved cases, there are now 18 active cases within the agency’s jurisdiction.
Health Sciences North is reporting there are nine admitted patients, four who have tested positive for the virus and five waiting for rest results.
Of the four, two are in intensive care.
Algoma Public Health has no new cases as of Monday but adds there are five active cases within the district.
Of the five that tested positive, one is from outside the district and is receiving care locally.

The province is lifting its land and water border restrictions with the two provinces that went into effect in April.

Ontario’s solicitor general says even though non-essential interprovincial travel will once again be allowed, people travelling into Ontario must obey the public health restrictions in place.

New study shows successful rates

The Pfizer-BioNTech and Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines are extremely effective at keeping people from ending up in the hospital with COVID-19,.

That’s according to a new study that found the vaccines work even after just one dose.

Public Health England says it looked at the records of 14,000 people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 due to the Delta variant between April 12 and June 4.

The study found two doses of either vaccine were more than 90 per cent effective at keeping people out of the hospital while after one dose, Pfizer was 94 per cent effective against hospitalization, and AstraZeneca’s vaccine was 71 per cent effective.
