Heatwave continues – City Cooling Center set up in Elliot Lake

Public Health Sudbury & Districts is warning the public to stay hydrated and use sunscreen with the continuing heatwave.

Temperatures have been in the low 30s for the last couple of days, so the heating warning is put out to ensure people are aware of the possible negative effects of heat exhaustion.

Meanwhile, the City of Elliot Lake will have a cooling center available at Centennial Arena from 11 am to 4 pm Tuesday and Wednesday.

Special Project Coordinator Steven Antunes says Elliot Lake Public Transit is free and there will be water available.

He says local health measures will still be in place and there will be screening at the door.

Should the hot temperatures continue, the dates will be extended.
