Algoma Manitoulin incumbent Mike Mantha doesn’t know how the Liberals arrived at their number to build a transportation link to the Ring of Fire. The Liberals plan to spend $1 billion on the link and want matching dollars from the feds. But Mantha says in talking to industry, the number the NDP comes up with at most is $650-million. Mantha says the NDP can launch the Ring of Fire quickly with a shared partnership with the feds and industry. Mantha believes the federal government hasn’t responded to the Liberal request to ante up money because their plan lacks details. The goal of the NDP is to have shovels in the ground at the chromite site within a year of forming the government
