National statutory holiday for reconciliation

September 30th will now be a statutory holiday for truth and reconciliation for some workers.

The Senate passed the bill yesterday that will see employees in the federal government and federally regulated workplaces have an annual national day to reflect about and learn about the legacy of residential schools in Canada.
The government fast-tracked the passage of the bill creating the holiday after last week’s discovery of 215 children in an unmarked grave on the grounds of a former residential school in BC.
