The fundraising to replace 54 beds at St. Joseph General Hospital in Elliot Lake is getting a big boost from individual donations, but also the monthly 50/50 draws being held.
Hospital foundation chair William Elliott says the total cost of the bed replacement is estimated at around $324,000 or $6,000 per bed.
Elliott says this month’s 50/50 winner Mike Maslakow accepted a cheque for just over $10,000 with the other half going towards the campaign.
The campaign is approaching the $100,000 mark with Elliot being confident they will reach their goal by late fall.
All donations are tax-deductible and tickets are now available for the June draw.
Tickets are available online www.sjhfound5050.ca for the June draw until 11:59 p.m. on June 29, with the draw taking place June 30 at 11:00 a.m.
