From Soup to Tomatoes is a unique armchair-based exercise program created by an Espanola Diabetic Educator and is available virtually, world-wide.
Susan Clarke, a nurse and the diabetic educator with the Espanola Family Health Team, wanted to help people with diabetes achieve realistic health and fitness goals.
She started out with arm-chair exercises using soup cans of various sizes and over the years it has evolved to a fully developed exercise program available through YouTube.
She says before COVID-19, they offered the program at the local Elks Hall but with social distancing, the YouTube option has proven to be a success.
Clarke says she continues to meet clients at the clinic so anyone seeking assistance can contact the health team to make an appointment following COVID-19 protocols.
