Canada Road Safety Week is underway with a focus on saving lives.
The campaign started on Tuesday and continues through holiday Monday.
Northeast Region OPP will be watching for aggressive, distracted, and impaired drivers, along with seatbelt usage.
Acting Sargeant Phil Young says over 260 people died in collisions in the Northeast between 2011 and 2020.
He says inattentive related would be 78, speed related 78, seatbelts 61, and drug and alcohol related impairment for the north-east region would be 48.
Young adds OPP will also have a presence on area waterways this long weekend ensuring safety there too.
